Updated: Saint Louis FC Announced Preseason Match

The site for the match between Saint Louis FC and Indy Eleven was announced today.  The two clubs will meet at Arad McCutchan Stadium on the University of Evansville campus.  The March 16th contest is scheduled to begin at 7:30 p.m. after the Saint Louis FC reserve team plays the University of Evansville men’s soccer team at 5:00 p.m.

This will mark the second consecutive year the clubs have met in their respective pre-seasons after Indy Eleven visited World Wide Technology Soccer Park for an open scrimmage last Spring.  The neutral site allows fans and supporters an opportunity to watch STLFC wind down its pre-season before gearing up for the USL season opener on March 26.

“The University of Evansville is a storied soccer program with a great history and an outstanding facility, and the community has a great soccer tradition as well,” Saint Louis FC head coach Dale Schilly said. “It’s only fitting that Indy Eleven and Saint Louis meet there for our preseason match. Indy is a very good team that, like us, has made a number of improvements. It should be an exciting game, and more importantly, it will be great preparation for the regular season for both teams.”

“This is a great opportunity for our club to build upon what we feel is a quality preseason schedule.” said Saint Louis FC General Manager Jeremy Alumbaugh.  “Indy Eleven will provide quality competition and with our season opener only ten days later, it will give us a chance to fine tune some things before we begin our 2016 USL season.”

Indy Eleven, which currently plays its home games at Michael Carroll Stadium in Indianapolis finished 5th and 9th in the Spring and Fall seasons, respectively, in the 11 team North American Soccer League.

“We are excited to get down to the University of Evansville and showcase Indy Eleven to the soccer fans of southern Indiana,” Indy Eleven head coach Tim Hankinson said. “The game against Saint Louis FC will provide one of the best challenges of our preseason calendar, and it will serve as a solid measuring stick as we prepare for the NASL season.”

Tickets to the friendly are $5 and will be sold on the day of the event.
