ST. LOUIS, Mo. – Saint Louis FC has acquired its first loanee from the Chicago Fire, the club’s MLS Affiliate, adding defender Patrick Doody.
Doody, 22, was signed by the Fire in December as a Homegrown Player. He was also a member of the Fire Academy and PDL sides.
“In Patrick, we add a versatile player who is capable of affecting the game from a number of different positions,” STL FC Head Coach Dale Schilly said. “Patrick had a stellar collegiate career, and we’re excited to see what he brings to our team.”
The native of Naperville, Ill., had a standout collegiate career at Indiana University.
In 83 matches for the Hoosiers, Doody scored six goals and tallied twelve assists. A senior captain, Doody was named to the 2014 Big Ten All-Tournament team.
In 2012, Doody assisted on the game-winning goal in the 1-0 victory over Georgetown, leading IU to their eighth national title.
He played at Indiana alongside STL FC midfielder Jacob Bushue, and joins fellow Naperville natives Bryan Gaul and Bryan Ciesiulka on the side.
Doody trained with STL FC on Friday and will be in action for the team’s final preseason friendly this Saturday at Tulsa Roughnecks FC.
