Saint Louis FC Collapses 1-4 to Louisville City FC

St. Louis, MO – Saint Louis FC fell 1-4 against Louisville City FC in front of 4,310 at Toyota Stadium in Week 18 of the USL Regular Season.

Saint Louis FC opened the scoring just before halftime through Daniel Jackson, his first goal of the season and first for STLFC.  The tides turned after halftime as Christian Volesky was sent off for a high challenge and Louisville opened the floodgates with four goals in 30 minutes during the second half to take home all three points and the Kings’ Cup.

The first half started as a slow affair with temperatures in the high 90s at kickoff.  The first major incident came in the 40th minute as Ivan Mirkovic was escorted off the field with a severe facial cut above the eye that required stitches and ended his game prematurely.  The home side would take the lead in added time as Octavio Guzman played the ball to Jackson who slotted the ball between the legs of Louisville goalkeeper Tim Dobrowolski to open his account for STLFC after moving from Oklahoma City Energy FC.

The second half saw a reversal of fortune for Saint Louis FC when forward Voleksy was sent off in the 47th minute for a high boot which was judged to make contact with Sean Reynolds.  Louisville quickly scored in the 52nd minute through Oscar Jimenez and took the lead five minutes later as Jimenez turned provider for Paco Craig to finish first-time in the box.  The night would get worse as Louisville added two more goals, the first in the 82nd minute through Luke Spencer who was substituted on only a minute before, and the second from Cameron Lancaster for his team-leading fifth goal of the season.  Saint Louis FC will look to turn their fortunes around as they visit 14th place Richmond Kickers on Saturday, July 29th with kickoff at 6:00pm CT and aired on KPLR 11.
