ST. LOUIS - In its final game of the season against a USL Western Conference opponent, Saint Louis FC played to a goalless draw against Oklahoma City Energy FC on Saturday night at World Wide Technology Soccer Park.
STL FC is now 5-7-7 (22 pts.) on the season and moves to 1-5-4 at home. Oklahoma City goes to 7-5-7 (28 pts.) with the result.
"The draws don't do us much good," STL FC Head Coach Dale Schilly said. "We needed to get a win. That said, the fact that we put back-to-back quality efforts together is very pleasing. We dictated the pace and possession tonight, and I thought we played really well."
"We had five or six good chances to score tonight," Schilly added. "We have to finish one of those."
On the other end, goalkeeper Alec Kann posted his fourth shutout of the season. His biggest save came in the first half, when he denied Michael Byskov with a sprawling save from 15 yards.
"Our center backs played great," Kann said. "We had a really good defensive team effort tonight, but we just have to have that killer instinct to take the three points."
Saint Louis FC will be back on the road next weekend, when the team travels to face New York Red Bulls II at Red Bull Arena on Sunday, August 2. Kickoff is scheduled for 4:00 PM.
