Real Monarchs SLC (0-0-0, 0 Pts.) vs.
Saint Louis FC (0-0-0, 0 Pts.)
Date: Saturday, March 26
Time: 8:00 PM CT
Venue: Rio Tinto Stadium, Sandy, Utah
LAST TIME OUT: Before rounding out the preseason with an exhibition match with Southern Illinois University Edwardsville which gave newer and younger players an opportunity to acquire valuable minutes, STLFC traveled to Evansville, Indiana to square off in a friendly with NASL side Indy Eleven. The match was held on the University of Evansville campus and ended in a 1-1 draw. Newcomer, Irvin Herrera, scored the lone goal for the designated visitors in the 46th minute before Indy was able to find the equalizer in the 64th minute.
THE OPPONENT: Real Monarchs SLC is the affiliate of Real Salt Lake and like Saint Louis FC will be opening the second season of their franchise's history on Saturday. In 2015, Real Monarchs finished the season with a record of 7-8-13 with five wins coming the last five matches of the season. Their 12th place finish in the Western Conference may be misleading as they head into the 2016 campaign.
GATEWAY TO THE WEST: Saturday marks the first game for Saint Louis FC in their new conference as they complete the move to the Western side of the league. Squaring off with four Western Conference opponents last year, STLFC finished with a 2-1-1 record with wins over Oklahoma City and Tulsa, who they will see four times each this season.
HOME OPENER: Saint Louis FC will play its home opener on Saturday, April 16 at 7:30 p.m. at World Wide Technology Soccer Park after playing its first four matches on the road. STLFC will be looking to start the home season strong after finishing with a home record of 4-6-4 last year.
