History:

Wednesday marks game three of the four-game series between Saint Louis FC and Oklahoma City Energy FC, and over the past two seasons these two teams have become very familiar with each other. Saint Louis FC won the inaugural season series with a 2-1 win and a 0-0 draw in 2015.  In their first matchup of the 2016 season, the teams played to a 2-2 draw.  Energy FC's Sebastian Dalgaard opened the scoring early on, giving OKC the lead inside nine minutes. But it was STLFC who went into halftime with the lead after Vince Cicciarelli and Sam Fink both scored from set-pieces. Coy Craft ensured that the honors would be shared on the night after scoring a stunning volley from 30 yards out in the 60th minutes. Match 2 of the series ended in a 0-0 draw at World Wide Technology Soccer Park in a game where Saint Louis were not able to capitalize on their many chances and Mark Pais' crossbar kept the game scoreless late.

It is to note that Saint Louis FC will be without forward Irvin Herrera and goalkeeper Ryan Thompson who will be on international duty with El Salvador and Jamaica respectively.

Last Time Out:

Saint Louis FC saw their playoff chances damaged but not destroyed. After starting brightly, goals against the run of play from San Antonio FC's Sebastien Thuriere and Rafael Castillo gave SAFC a 2-0 halftime lead. St. Louis continued to apply pressure in the second half but couldn't find a way past Matt Cardone who made 7 saves on the night, including a denial of Irvin Herrera from the penalty spot in stoppage time. The loss, and other results around the league saw STLFC fall to 13th in the Western Conference, 5 points adrift of San Antonio for the 8th and final playoff spot.

Oklahoma City Energy are coming off a 1-0 win against in-state rivals Tulsa Roughnecks. OKC scored in first-half stoppage time when Wojciech Wojcik tucked in Danni Konig's attempt that was cleared off the line. The win gave Energy FC a clean sweep of the "Black and Gold Derby", with OKC having won the previous 3 matchups of the season 0-2, 3-0, and 0-2 respectively.
