RECAP: Saint Louis FC v FC Cincinnati

A crowd of 17,415 saw Nippert Stadium host Saint Louis FC, wearing their all white kits, for the first time in franchise history. FC Cincinnati came into the afternoon winless in their last 4, while Saint Louis hadn't won in their last 6.

FC Cincinnati dominated the run of the play throughout most of the first half. In the 32nd minute, Jimmy McLaughlin burst into space down the Saint Louis FC right and fired a shot across Mark Pais that the STLFC goalkeeper parried over. But Andrew Wiedeman had the best chance of the half with a left-footed over the shoulder volley in the 42nd minute. His shot had Pais beat but it landed just inches wide of the far post.

Interim Head Coach Tim Leonard made a change at halftime, bringing on Jacob Bushue for Jamiel Hardware to try and shore up the midfield, but Cincinnati continued to have the lion's share of possession and chances.

The best opportunity of the second half came was in the 71st minute when Okoli headed over from a corner. Just minutes later Okoli found McLaughlin after an STLFC turnover, but the lively winger couldn't keep his shot on frame.

In the 85 minute, FC Cincinnati broke the deadlock when Sean Okoli latched onto an Andrew Weideman header and tapped it into the back of the net from what looked to be an offside position. Cincinnati's celebrations were cut short, though, when just a minute later, Mitch Hildebrandt's clearance fell to Patrick Doody on the edge of the area who smashed the ball into the back of the net.

Just when Saint Louis FC looked to have stolen a point, James Musa was judged to have handled the ball in the box deep into stoppage time. Okoli stepped up and tucked home the penalty to complete his brace and take all 3 points for FC Cincinnati.
